After five incredible years of celebrating and supporting independent film in Indiana, Hoosier Films is stepping back—at least for now.
Founded with the goal of increasing awareness of Indiana’s thriving independent film scene, Hoosier Films grew from a bold idea into a multifaceted distribution company with a streaming platform, an annual film festival, and theatrical screenings around the state. We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished and deeply grateful to the filmmakers and film lovers who made it possible.
Through this journey, we’ve learned a lot. One key insight: for Hoosier Films to thrive long-term, it needs to transition into a nonprofit organization. Access to grant funding and a broader volunteer base would make a huge difference in sustaining and expanding our work. While we’ve spoken with members of the community about this transition—and there is definite support—there hasn’t yet been the right leadership or momentum to take it forward.
