I made Authority based on real events I had read about locally where I reside. I wanted to explore how even a full room of students did not notice or ignored obvious sexual harassment. In Ballet, the instructor must correct the dancer by physically moving them into the proper form. It is part of the art. We researched and work with a professional ballet theatre to portray moments that would be considered off even in a Ballet practice. I wanted to keep this film open ended, non conclusive, and inexplicable. Similarly to this issue, which seems to be ramped as more of these situations are uncovered.
